Artist statement

Hello my name is nolan Broughton and this is my artist statement. So before we started this art project in class I thought I was only of African decent then I I figured out that I was wrong my great grandmothers grandma was actually Indian and was married to a white man. So I thought that was pretty interesting then I figured out from my mom that I have an aunts who was intrigued with figuring out are family tree and my mom also told me that we can from African decent and and that we also have some Irish in us so I thought that was interesting. I made this project because after hearing all of this I thought the fact that I have a little bit of Indian in me I was awesome so I looked up Indian culture and typical the headress popped up so I read about it and figured out that they are giving them feathers over time for being seen as the adult member of the tribe and after they have so many feathers it's made into a headband and only the most loyal and brave and strongest warriors are aloud to wear them so I thought wow that's me I'm loyal strong and brave so I decided to make a Indian headdress. The process of making the project was pretty simple I had Drew and kind of arched rectangle and the Drew lines diagonal going from the top to the bottom then I traced over it in Indian ink and made a red dot in the middle after I placed feather where I though it would look good but I had to cut off the bottom of the stems because it wouldn't look right after that I super glues the feathers onto the canvas and in two work periods I was done. The texture used is actually texture because you can can feel the feathers. The color palettes that were used were complementary colors because the red no green complement each other. The element form that was used was horizontal because the feathers all go up and down. This headdress is two dimensional three dimensional and uses positive and negative space . The negative space comes from the feathers and the positive space comes from the space between the feathers. The 2 dimensional part is the drawing and the 3 dimensional part is the feathers. I'm not sure if any value was used .and none of line was used. This is my artist statement 😋
